No pictures....Just a story

I wanted to document my birth story of Lilly. I don't have pictures uploaded onto this computer, but I'll post some soon. Lilly is getting her newborn pictures taken on Monday, so I will have some to share, and maybe I can talk my sis into putting my hospital pictures/labor pictures that she took onto a CD for me. (her camera is way better than mine)

Anyways, here's the birth story:

I was set to be induced on Friday, August 13, 2010. I was told I would be "on call" from midnight Thursday night - midnight Friday night, to get induced. I was second on the list. (just so you all know, there was no medical reason for my induction....I was just done being pregnant, and my doc said he could induce)
Thursday night, was our last night as a family of 5. We decided to let the kids stay out later with us, and go to daddy's softball game. We got home from the games at about 9:00, bathed the kids, got their pajamas on, and headed over to aunt Kourts house. They were gonna have a sleepover. I can't thank my sister enough for taking them that night, with her hectic week she had. Thank you so much! (her father in law passed away that week, and she had lots of family at her house to begin with...)
Casey and I dropped the kids off, and headed home. I suddenly got a last minute pregnancy craving for a shake, so we took off to iceberg. Yum :) We got home, I enjoyed my shake, then took a nice long hot shower. I blew my hair dry, and got my hospital bag packed. I didn't think I would sleep very good that night, anxious for our new baby to arrive and such. But AMAZINGLY I totally zonked out. I was in a very very deep sleep. I had set my cell phone on the loudest ringer so I would be sure to hear when the hospital called. At 5:45 AM my phone rang, and I seriously about had a heart attack because it was so loud. I quickly jumped out of bed, and got ready for the hospital. We had to be there by 6:30. I was feeling nervous and anxious, mixed with excitment. We arrived at the hospital and were quickly taken to our room. The nursing staff was amazing. The nurse got my IV in, and then they started me on pitocin. Contractions were bearable. My doctor came in at 8:30 and broke my water. (seriously, weirdest feeling...yes it is my 4th time feeling it, but I still think its weird!) Contractions picked up a bit, but still were bearable. Around 11:00 I asked for an epideral. I was dilated to a 5 and 85% effaced. I got my epi, only to find it wasn't working. My left leg went numb and that was it. They tried to manuver my epi to kick in and numb me, rolling me from side to side, having me sit in indian style, all sorts of tricks..it wasn't working, and contractions were picking up. It was pretty intense. Around 2:45 I was in a lot of pain, and was crying. My nurse said that we could retry the epi, but that might take an hour or so. After she tried again to manuver everything, and was gonna call to retry my epi, I felt like I had to push, so I just told her nevermind, I needed to get Lilly out. I started pushing at about 3:15 and Lilly Paige Brooksby was born at 3:23 PM. She has dark hair, and dark eyes. Full precious lips. She weighed 7 LBS 2 OZ and was 19 inches long .....she is perfect. She has been a great baby so far, rarely fusses, and never cries. I'm in love :) The older kids are loving her too and are constantly swarming around her and asking to hold her.
