Its been a year

A year ago today, I got some of the worst news up to date. One of my best friends, husband had passed away. Brian left behind his wife, Caytlin, and his two handsome little boys, Mason and Kenny. I think back on the emotion I felt on that day, and it was so overwhelming, to be so far away from Caytlin. She was up in Orem, and I was here in St.George. I felt helpless. I cancelled my daycare that day, and for the remainder of the week. The very next day I headed to Delta, with my sister and little brother. We then proceeded to head to Orem on Friday, for the viewing. I was holding strong, until I got to the casket, and I saw Caytlin. We embraced, and I lost it. I wasn't the 'strong friend' that she needed, but I did have a shoulder for her to cry on.
The funeral was good. Lots of memories shared, lots of love given, and lots of tears shed.
Over this last year, I have seen Caytlin grow so much. She has grown into quite the perfect mom to her little boys. She has grown in her testimony, and she has growning mentally. She has had nights where its been really hard, but she has done such a good job of being a mommy to her 2 beautiful handsome little boys. I just wanted to tell her I am proud of all she has done in the last year, and although this journey hasn't ended, she has done a hell of a good job, keeping it going. I love you Caytlin!

I actually knew Brian before he got married. He dated one of my roommates! She actaully just told me a couple of months ago about his passing! I didn't know that he married a girl from Delta. Small world! Brian was a great guy:) And I hope his wife is doing well!

I can't even imagine having to go through what Caytlin has had to endure! I'm proud of her for being so strong and for not giving up. She is an inspiration to all of us!

Thanks for that post Meg. I think about her occasionally and I see her around up here sometimes. I know that a piece of her husband will always be with her...her two little boys :)
